The loss is Inter Miami’s first since Messi’s arrival


On Saturday, Inter Miami lost 5-2 to Atlanta United, their first loss since Lionel Messi’s arrival.

Messi was not included in the game’s active roster and hence did not play.

The home team had a commanding lead at halftime with to goals from Tristan Muyumba, Brooks Lennon, and an own goal by Kamal Miller.

Atlanta clinched the game in the second with to goals from Georgios Giakoumakis and Tyler Wolff. After this win, they are presently sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Miami’s 12-game winning streak in all competitions came to an end despite two goals from Leonardo Campana.

Gerardo “Tata” Martino, the manager of the Miami Dolphins, said that Messi and Jordi Alba were not able to play because of “muscular fatigue.”
